One of the most dangerous ideas on Medium is this idea that it is somehow a testament to your good character, confidence, and self-esteem to resolve never to learn, never to change, and to walk away from anyone that won’t accept you just the way you are.

Real self-esteem… real confidence… is being willing to listen to other perspectives, to be open to learning more about yourself, and having the courage to change even when it does feel worse.
