I think in terms of invitations.
When we have the courage to say what we want, without holding our partners hostage to or responsible for our emotional outbursts, life gets better for everyone.
Relationships are built on attachment, expectations, and commitments. The survival of the human race has always depended upon it. Even anxious attachment served some evolutionary purpose, such as the maturation of the child to post-pubescent reproductive age.
The question for many adults is, “How do I select people for what level of commitment?”
