It turns out that COVID19 is much less deadly than the WHO thought.
The situation in Italy does sound awful, with 4,000 dead from COVID19. The Italian authorities must be doing something right, since the current death toll is only 10% of the 44,000 they lost to seasonal flu in 2016/2017.
Thank goodness the hospitalization rates in the US have been so minuscule, despite estimates of millions of infected cases.
Maybe in another week we will all be able to say, “Wow! We threw millions of people out of work and school, but it was worth it and I’m glad we overreacted!”
