Go even deeper. One theory says that we date the same people over and over again because our brains are seeking to replay the traumas of our childhood from a position of control.

My experience has been that this realization has released me from involuntary and obsessive thoughts, and allowed me more freedom to enjoy my life as a wonderful experiment of self-discovery.
